Marglu Billabong & Telegraph Station

On our way to Marglu Billabong we passed the ruins of this telegraph station, the only parts still standing being the concrete stumps and chimney

Its amazing after driving sixteen kilometres through arid country you go over a hill and there before you is a green oasis in the middle of all the dry country

There is a walking platform over the billabong leading to a bird hide where we sat and ate lunch whilst we watched a sea eagle and a variety of other water birds

On our way back to Kununurra we were confronted by fire in a so-called controlled burn off (there was not a person in sight) a regular occurrence in the outback.

On our last night in Kununurra we had a buffet dinner with the other three couples around what we called out courtyard. We all agreed it was a wonderful camp set up much better than camping side by side. We had enjoyed the daily banter and we were all sorry to be parting company the next day as we went off in different directions
