Circular Pool, Karijini National Park

View of Circular Pool from the lookout.

Circular pool is usually accessed by climbing down to Fortescue pool, and after a swim, following a marked trail for 2kms along a fairly difficult, often slippery, walk at the base of the gorge

Its incredible how a ghost gum can grow on a cliff face that appears to be all rock. It is startling to see the contrast of the white trunk against the rich red rock

Erosion has left this section of the cliff face in a very precarious state

Another part of the cliff that looks close to collapse

A couple of photos taken as we walked the 2kms along the bottom of the gorge

At last Faye enjoys a swim at circular pool. The pool was quite cold but the young tourists in the background said the water tumbling down over them was warm. We all agreed the surroundings were beautiful

It was too late to walk back the way we had come, so we had to take the steep steps out of the gorge. It was straight up, mostly on roughly formed steps like the ones in the photo. It was so steep at one stage we had to climb a ladder to another level. We made it safely to the top but we were very tired after such a long day. David was good enough to walk the 2kms back to the car whilst Faye waited to be picked up
