Oodnadatta Track - Maree to William Creek

40 kms from Maree, along the arid and barren desert track we suddenly came upon the Mutonia Sculpture Park created by mechanic turned artist, Robin Cooke. He returns every year to create a new sculpture.

Walking toward the waters edge at Lake Eye South. It was a beautiful walk with lots of wildflowers emerging from the sand.
This is as close as we could get to the water at Lake Eyre South as our shoes were sinking into the sand.

No, its not a church, its a 10,000 gallon water storage tank, the most complete ruin at Strangways, an abandoned town on the old
Ghan Railway route.
We walked a 2 km circuit around nine Mound Springs at Strangways, a moonscape environment. Although they were all lush we only found two springs with pools of water. It was interesting that although the mounds were only 100-200 metres apart, different varieties of plants and grasses grew on them.

"The Bubbler" Mound Spring is also in Wabma Kardarbu National Park on the Oodnadatta track. Bubbles are pushed to the surface from churning mud on the mound spring bed.
